Why Measure 30+ Body Points? 1cm Makes a World of Difference

Many first-time bespoke clients are startled by the fitter's process — measuring tape running all over the body, taking over ten minutes. Isn't it just height, weight, and chest? Why so complicated?

Because every part of the human body is interconnected. Shoulder width off by 1cm affects the entire upper back line; sleeve length off by 0.5cm means the shirt cuff shows too much or too little; the degree of waist suppression directly determines whether the overall silhouette looks crisp or sloppy. More than 30 data points aren't about 'the more the better' — they're about 'not a single one can be missed.'

The Complete Measurement Process

Upper body (core data): Neck circumference → shoulder width → chest → waist → abdomen → hips → back length → front jacket length → sleeve length → armhole depth → bicep → wrist. Among these, shoulder width measurement demands the most experience — it's not just laying a tape measure flat. The fitter must locate the natural turning point of your shoulder; measuring from that exact point is what makes it accurate.

Lower body: Waist (trouser) → hips → thigh → knee → calf → trouser length → front rise → back rise. Trouser length measurement isn't simply waist-to-ankle — the fitter simultaneously observes your natural standing posture, knee bend, and forward lean angle, all of which affect trouser pattern treatment.

Special physique notation: This is the most sophisticated aspect of bespoke. If you have uneven shoulders, a stooped posture, a protruding belly, or leg length discrepancy, the fitter notes these and makes corresponding pattern adjustments. For a stooped client, the fitter treats back length specially; for a protruding belly, the front jacket length is cut slightly longer than the back. These adjustments are something off-the-rack can never achieve.

What Else Does a Responsible Fitter Do?

Beyond measuring data, an excellent fitter observes your wearing habits (which pocket you keep your wallet in, which wrist you wear your watch on — these affect pocket and cuff treatment), asks about your profession and wearing scenarios, and even watches you walk a few steps to assess how your gait affects trouser fit. QINUO's fitters average over 10 years of experience. These 'invisible observations' are the true guarantee of bespoke fit.
